The objective was to recreate a traditional “R” letterform based off of original Roman styled lettering. The Roman alphabet, also called the Latin alphabet, is the most widely used alphabet in the world.  After hand drawing the letter R, I imported it into Illustrator and traced my sketch for this final outcome.  

After recreating the classic Roman R, I created a contemporary version. I did a lot of hand drawing in a notebook for the contemporary R. I also spent some time with

 digital sketching. 

I wanted to make a clean and modern design that could offer multiple solutions. I chose to modify my contemporary R by taking out the curves and making the form more angular.

Although I feel my design could work in multiple formats, I decided to use it as a Design Firm Logo.
